Dr. Ornelas is a Crown Point native, and he loves getting to serve his neighbors and help them improve not only their smiles, but their lives through dedicated dental care! To learn more about his background and interests, keep reading below:
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Growing up, Dr. Ornelas always admired his grandfather, who was a well-respected physician in Northwest Indiana. He knew from a young age that he wanted to follow in his footsteps and go into the medical field too – and dentistry ended up being the best possible fit for his career goals! It’s a profession that allows him to help others directly, bolster their health, improve their confidence, and even positively change their overall wellbeing.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After attending Purdue University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Ornelas pursued his doctorate at Indiana University School of Dentistry. He also makes a big effort to stay up-to-date with the field by taking continuing education courses on a routine basis and participating in several local dental societies and study clubs. He is a current member of the following organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Indiana Dental Association
- Northwest Indiana Dental Society
- Laporte County Dental Society
- Master Series Study Club
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When he isn’t busy at work, Dr. Ornelas enjoys nothing more than spending time with his lovely wife Laura, their amazing daughter Layla, and their dog Ruger. Other hobbies include being outdoors, going fishing, camping, hiking, competing in competitive shooting sports, and playing ice hockey!
